No tsunami triggered by Chile earthquake

No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude-6.6 earthquake that struck Tuesday afternoon off the coast of central Chile.

The earthquake occurred at 3:55 p.m. Hawaii time and was centered just offshore of Coquimbo, Chile, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.

Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected, according to the center.
