Rose Horwatt
Rose Horwatt, 87, of Hilo died Nov. 4, 2015, at home. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker, retired from Dietary Food Services and was a member of the Kaumana Drive Baptist Church in Hilo.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Nov. 17 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. service for her and her husband, Edward Horwatt, who died Nov. 5. Burial will be held at noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests aloha attire be worn.
She is survived by son, Edward Anthony (Margaret) Horwatt Jr. of Waimea; daughter, Elizabeth (Rodney) Ware of Springfield, Mo.; sister, Elizabeth Ah Chin of Hilo; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Edward Horwatt
Edward Anthony Horwatt, 88, of Hilo died Nov. 5, 2015, at home. Born in Bloomingdale, Ohio, he was retired from the Scripps Research Institute of Oceanography and Salks Institute of Biological Studies, a Navy veteran and member of the Kaumana Drive Baptist Church in Hilo.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Nov. 17 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. service for Edward Horwatt and wife, Rose Ah Lin Horwatt, who died Nov. 4. Urn committal will be at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 will be held at noon. The family requests aloha attire be worn.

Tokuichi Nakano
Tokuichi “Toku” Nakano, 96, of Naalehu died Nov. 7, 2015, at Ka‘u Hospital. Born June 6, 1919, in Honuapo, Ka‘u, he was a retired machine shop and electrical supervisor for Ka‘u Sugar Co., independent electrical contractor, World War II Army 442nd Regimental Headquarters Company veteran, recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Congressional Gold Medal and French Legion of Honor Medal and member of Naalehu Hongwanji Mission and 442nd Veterans Association.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Nov. 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Urn committal service follows at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

William Sergio Lato, 82, of Hilo died Oct. 12, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pepeekeo, he was a mason foreman for Isemoto Contracting, Hirano Brothers, member of the Laborers’ International Union of North America Local 369 and a Korean War Navy veteran.

Yoshito Takamine, 89, of Honokaa died Oct. 27, 2015, at home. Born in Hakalau, he was a retired division director with the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, served in the House or Representatives, on the Governor’s Agriculture Coordinating Committee and headed the House Labor Committee.

Bob Santos Fernandez, 68, of Pepeekeo died Oct. 19, 2015, at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired truck driver.

Evyn Adams
Dr. Evyn M. Adams, 94, of Washington died March 4, 2015, at the Franciscan Hospice House in Tacoma, Wash. Born June 8, 1920, in Karuizawa, Japan, he was a former professor of religious studies at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, missionary to Japan, pastor with United Methodist and Congregational churches, including Lanakila Congregational Church in Kainaliu.
Services will be held during the week of Thanksgiving at Lanakila Congregational Church in Kainaliu. Memorial donations may be made to One Mission Society, Box A, Greenwood, IN 46142, directed for use by account No. 407853, which is designated for the education of future missionaries.
He is survived by daughters, Faith Mishina of Hilo, Betty Andrews of Tacoma, Wash.; seven grandchildren.
Michael Woodbury
Michael Lloyd Woodbury, 69, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 8, 2015, at home. Born Jan. 18, 1946, in Rawlins, Wyoming, he was the owner of Woodbury Building and Construction and Woodbury Inspection Group, a paddler and member of Keauhou Canoe Club and American Society of Home Inspectors.

He is survived by wife, Catherine Woodbury of Kailua-Kona; son, Alex (Jessica Salerno) Woodbury of Waimea; daughter, Shaye Woodbury of Denver; sister, Lynn Lesher of Nashville, Tenn.; one grandson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Floyd Norris
Floyd Frank Norris, 81, of Hilo died Oct. 11, 2015, at home. Born in Cedar City, Utah, he was the owner of Fantasia Jewels and Fantasia Pacific Inc., retired from ABC Interiors and a former member of Hilo Lodge 759 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and Kilauea Masonic Lodge.

Mieko “Mae” Shimizu, 91, of Hilo died Oct. 24, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired kitchen helper for the former Sky Chef and Restaurant Fuji and member of Hilo Meishoin Mission, Taishoji Soto Mission, Piihonua Community Association and Niigata Kenjin Kai.
Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.
She is survived by son, Calvin Shimizu of Hilo; daughters, Audrey Shimizu, Eloise (David) Kuniyoshi and Bessie (Paul Nagamine) Shimizu, all of Hilo; two grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
