Pedro Abadilla

Pedro Sebastian Abadilla, 95, of Kapaau died Oct. 27, 2015, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born June 6, 1920, in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a dishwasher for the former Royal Waikoloan Resort and member of Solid Rock North in Hawi.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Nov. 21 at Solid Rock North in Hawi for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at Hawi County cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Amelia Abadilla of Kapaau; sons, Levi (Delia) Abadilla of Ilocos Norte, Philippines, Jholito (Ofelia) Abadilla of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Nelia Aguiran and Elma Domingo, both of Kohala, Hermelita (Claude) Martell of Kailua-Kona, Lorna (Roman Jr.) Gatica of Colorado; brothers, Mariano Abadilla of Hilo, Celso Abadilla of Honolulu, Juan Abadilla and Anastacio (Irene) Abadilla, both of the Philippines; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Edward Cariaga

Edward “Haole Boy” Kahikinolio Cariaga, 56, of Pahala died Oct. 12, 2015, at Ka‘u Hospital. Born Dec. 29, 1958, in Honolulu, he was a self-employed opihi picker, vegetable farmer and member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Pahala.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Nov. 21 at Ka’u Meat Market, 98-3232 Maile St., Pahala for a celebration of life. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Emma Cariaga; daughter, Jessica (Wilson Kaliaga) Cariaga; son, Ernest Cariaga; stepsons, Sumuo Engichy, Noah Engichy, Isaiah Smith; mother, Anna Cariaga; sister, Brenda Oliveira; hanai sisters, Georgette Kailiawa, Georgina (Henry) Kailiawa-Chung, Darlyne (Winslow) Vierra; hanai brothers, Thomas (Jaime) Kailiawa, Bill (Angie) Lorenzo, James (Tina) Kuahiwinui; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Esminia Kanoeau

Esminia “Minia” Kanoeau, 70, of Ocean View died Oct. 12, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 20, 1944, in Hilo, she was a waitress at Teshima’s Restaurant, pineapple worker at the Dole Pineapple Cannery on Lanai and member of Kona Gospel Chapel.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Nov. 21 at Kona Gospel Chapel in Kealakekua for a 10 a.m. service. Inurnment follows in the church’s cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

She is survived by husband, Francis Kanoeau Sr. of Ocean View; sons, Francis Kanoeau Jr. and Norman Kanoeau, both of Ocean View, Brian Kanoeau of Captain Cook; daughter, Cindy Kanoeau of Captain Cook; brothers, Julian (Lucy) Tagavilla of Middle Keei, Matthew Tagvilla of Keei; stepbrother, Albert (Mildred) Roloos of Maui; sisters, Loretta (Daniel Sr.) Simeon of Hilo, Flora (Petruno) Ascino Jr. of Middle Keei; stepdaughter, Ann (Rodney) Hose Jr. of Holualoa; stepsisters, Ann (Douglas) Oshiro of Kaneohe, Oahu, Christine (Carl) Hebenstriet of Honolulu, Mary (Howard) Alapai of Puuanhulu, Nancy (Peter) Ohashi of Maui; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
