Man sought by police arrested during burglary

Police have located 26-year-old Brandon K. Paulino-Pawai of Hilo, who was wanted on warrants for contempt of court and violating terms of a deferred plea.

Paulino-Pawai was arrested Saturday morning following a burglary on Iolani Street in Hilo, police said. He was charged with first-degree burglary, contempt of court and violating terms of a deferred plea. His bail was set at $15,250.

Also arrested in connection with the burglary were 19-year-old Scott Vasconcellos-Rego of Waimea and 23-year-old Ross Macariola of Waimea, police said.

Macariola was released without charges pending further investigation.

Vasconcellos-Rego was charged with first-degree burglary and an unrelated contempt of court. His bail was set at $5,150.

Paulino-Pawai and Vasconcellos-Rego were held at the Hilo police cellblock until their initial court appearance on Monday.
