Marcela Barcena

Marcela Calagno Barcena, 81, of Keaau died Oct. 26, 2015, at her residence. Born March 2, 1934, in Manaoag, Pangasinan, Philippines, she was retired from Agro-Resources Macadamia Nut Co. and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. Nov. 22 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. Nov. 23 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at Alae Cemetery in Hilo. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

She is survived by husband, Amado Barcena Sr. of Keaau; sons, Jaime Barcena, Samuel (Wilma) Barcena, Amado (Alona) Barcena Jr., Winston (Geranalyn) Barcena, all of Keaau; daughters, Tita Barcena, Juliet (Leonardo) Bergonia and Wennie (Ruben) Garlitos, all of Keaau; sister, Marcelina Calagno of Manaoag, Pangasinan, Philippines; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary Lou Beardsley

Family has scheduled services for Mary Lou Beardsley, 82, of Pahoa whose obituary ran in October.

Friends may call at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 22 at Puula Congregational Church in Nanawale. Family requests aloha attire be worn and no flowers.

Lance Alexander

Lance Alexander, 71, of Molokai and formerly of the Big Island died Nov. 5, 2015. Born Feb. 18, 1944, in Toronto, he was a musician, sailor, woodworker, writer, photographer, artists’ model and substance-abuse counselor.

Services are pending.

He is survived by partner, Beth King-Mock of Kaunakakai, Molokai.

Albert Pihi Jr.

Albert Joseph Pihi Jr., 75, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 6, 2015, at home. Born Aug. 24, 1940, in Hilo, he was a retired plumber and Navy veteran.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Nov. 22 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11 a.m. celebration of life. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by sisters, Rita (Manuel) Charvea of Mountain View, Elizabeth Sorkin of Keaau; brothers, Walter (Kelly) Diego of Mountain View, Jeffrey Pihi of California, Robert Pihi of Eden Rock; five children; seven grandchildren.

Gregory Scheid

Gregory “Gregg” Edward Scheid, 70, of Kailua-Kona and Pebble Beach, Calif., died Nov. 6, 2015, at his residence. Born July 24, 1945, in Los Angeles, he was a land surveyor for Kohanaiki, Kukio, Kaupulehu, Discovery LLC and Hawaiian Dredging and Construction.

He is survived by wife, Deborrah Scheid of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Alea Scheid of Kailua-Kona; sister, Joshlyn Scheid of Carmel Valley, Calif.; brother, Dusty (Linda) Scheid of Canyon Lake, Calif.; one grandson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Donald Carlson

Donald “Don” Lee Carlson, 69, of Pahoa died Nov. 5, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Sept. 8, 1946, in Los Angeles, He was a self-employed building contractor and Army veteran.

He is survived by sister, Carol (John) Biggs; brother, Bob (Catherine) Carlson.

Darlene Moepono

Darlene “Dar” Faith Moepono, 51, of Hilo died Nov. 5, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Dec. 22, 1963, in Detroit, she was a court reporter for the Maui Second Circuit Court and member of the First Assembly of God, Maui.
