Area children’s author visits Kealakehe

Area children’s author Natalie Moe-Bruce recently visited Ronda Barker’s fourth-grade class at Kealakehe Elementary school. Moe-Bruce is the author of two children’s books in a series called, “The Adventures of Aki the Inventor.” Her first book takes place in Japan, and the second book, which will be released by the end of December, takes place in Hawaii. The purpose of the books is to encourage children to use their imagination to create new things, expose them to different cultures, and inspire them to dream big like Aki.

Barker’s students enjoyed listening to Moe-Bruce read her book about Aki visiting Japan, and they learned Japanese words which are included at the end of the book.

The proceeds for “The Adventures of Aki in Japan” support an organization in Tokyo called Bare Hope, which helps women through unexpected pregnancies and places unwanted children with adopted parents. The proceeds for the upcoming “The Adventures of Aki in Hawaii will support a children’s organization in Hawaii which is still being determined.
