Albert Pihi Jr.

Albert Joseph Pihi Jr. is survived by brother, Walter (Kellie) DeRego of Mountain View. The name was incorrectly spelled in his obituary Thursday because of information provided by the mortuary.

Daniel Kaeka III

Daniel Kapionuenue Kaeka III, 79, of Hilo and formerly of Vineyard Haven, Mass., died Oct. 29, 2015, in Keaau. Born Dec. 12, 1935, on Oahu, he was a Korean War Marine Corps veteran, a retired night watchman at the Vineyard Haven SSA terminal and competitive horseshoes champion.

An observance of his life will take place on Martha’s Vineyard at a future date. A private memorial service will be held in Hilo.

He is survived by wife, Shirley Vincent Kaeka of Hilo; sons, Daniel (Sue) Kaeka IV, Daryl Kaeka, Dennis Kaeka and Dwight (Beth) Kaeka, all of West Tisbury, Mass.; daughter, Hannah (Jonathan) Scott of West Tisbury, Mass.; sisters, Velma Keanuenue of Napa Valley, Calif., Kathryn Nakoa of Nanakuli, Oahu; brother, Rodney Kaeka of Pahoa; half-brothers, Dennis Kaeka and Edward Kaeka, both of Oahu, Henano Kaeka of Colorado; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Herbert Masuya

Herbert Hideo Masuya, 79, of Hilo died Nov. 7, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 15, 1936, in Hilo, he was a retired vector control worker for the state Department of Health and an Army veteran.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

He is survived by sister, Mae (Joe) Iwatate of Los Angeles; numerous nieces and nephews.

Lillian Taira

Lillian Ayako Taira, 91, of Waimea died Nov. 3, 2015, at home. Born Jan. 4, 1924, in Hakalau, she was a retired supervisor for Dole Pineapple Cannery and member of Waimea Senior Citizens Club, Kamuela Hongwanji Mission and Waimea Mahjong Group.

Service were held. In lieu of flowers or monetary gifts, memorial donations may be sent to North Hawaii Hospice, 65-1328 Kawaihae Road, Kamuela, HI 96743.

She is survived by daughter, Sharon (Warren) Higuchi of Waimea; numerous nieces and nephews.

Angel Villegas

Angel Valdez Villegas, 89, of Captain Cook died Nov. 18, 2015, at Kohala Hospital. Born Oct. 1, 1926, in Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a coffee farmer.

Private services are planned.

He is survived by daughter, Fortunata (Bill) Sebastian of Captain Cook; son, June Villegas of Camiling Tarlac, Philippines; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.

Brock Hylton

Brock James Hylton, 92, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 11, 2015, at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born April 17, 1923, in Cleveland, he was president, creative director and co-owner of Island Studios Hawaii, formerly the Hylton Creative Group, a pilot, photographer, artist and World War II Army Air Force veteran.

Private service were held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of Kona, P.O. Box 4130, Kailua-Kona, HI 96745.

He is survived by wife, Mary Ann Hylton of Kailua-Kona; stepdaughters, Laurie Pettingill of Colorado, Dana Durant of California; daughters, Sandra Kraner and Sue Mangus, both of Missouri; sons, Richard Brockway and Mark Brockway, both of Missouri; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
