Shigeko Kurashige

Shigeko Inkyo Kurashige, 98, of Kapaau died Nov. 9, 2015, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born in Kohala, she was a homemaker and member of St. Augustine Episcopal Church and Kohala Senior Citizens.

Friends may call at 1 p.m. Nov. 28 at St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Kapaau for a 3 p.m. service. Urn committal follows in the church cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by son, Myles (Vanda) Kurashige of Honolulu; daughter, Iris (Zen) Fujii of Kohala; sister, Chieko Sasaki of Hilo; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, 13 step-great-great-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Susan Pua

Susan Kaleohano Pua, 79, of Pahala died Nov. 5, 2015, at Pohai Malama Hospice Facility in Hilo. Born June 8, 1936, in Kaohe, Kona, she worked at Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co. and the former Punaluu Black Sands Restaurant, was a musician, hula instructor and dancer and member of the Hawaii Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Nov. 28 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11 a.m. service. Celebration of her life follows. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by sons, Arthur (Janet) Kaleohano of Pahala, Sammy (Cindy) Pua of Holualoa, Danny (Bree) Pua of Ahualoa, Wesley (April-Hogue) Pua of Florida, James (Stephanie) Ke of Kalopa; daughters, Susan (Clyde) Louis, Elvainney Pascubillo and Kathie Pua, all of Pahala, Charmaine Pua of Kurtistown, Helen Freitas of Hilo; hanai daughter, Adrianne Akina of Pahala; brother, Edward Kaleohano of Hookena; sister, Constance (Donald) Pua of Kona; 50 grandchildren; 100 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

William Paris Jr.

William “Uncle Billy” Hauwawaikaleo-onamanuonakanahele Johnson Paris Jr., 92, of Lehuula Nui, died Nov. 14, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Dec. 18, 1922, in Honolulu, he was the owner of Palika Ranch Family LP, inducted into the Paniolo Hall of Fame in 2003, World War II Army veteran, served in the Hawaii Army National Guard, former deacon and past kahu pono for Lanakila Congregational Church, former trustee of the Hawaii Conference Foundation and member of Lions Club of Kona, American Legion Post 20, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 7, Hawaii Cattlemen’s Association, Kainaliu Kumiai, Kona Soil and Water Conservation District and other organizations. His past service also includes serving on the County of Hawaii Transportation and Planning commissions and Board of Appeals.

Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 29 at the family’s residence, 79-7345 Mamalahoa Highway, Lehuula Nui, for a 10 a.m. celebration of life. Private inurnment follows. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by daughter, Wilma Paris of Lehuula Nui; sister, Margaret Schattauer of Napoopoo; one grandson; one granddaughter; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Albert Flynn

Albert Edward Flynn, 66, of Hawaiian Beaches died Nov. 18, 2015, at his residence. Born in Honolulu, he was a moving consultant for Big Island Moving and a bellman at the former Hilo Lagoon Hotel.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. Nov. 30 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 5 p.m. service. Additional services will take place on Oahu at a later date. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by daughters, Marlo Flynn of Seattle, Sandy (Jaaie) White of Columbia, S.C.; son, Brad (Roxie) Flynn of Kapolei, Oahu; mother, Betty Flynn of Kailua, Oahu; brother, Jimmy Flynn of Kailua, Oahu; sister, Roberta Cantley of Arizona; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Florence Leong

Florence “Terry” Shim Leong, 81, of Kailua-Kona, died Nov. 15, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born June 21, 1934, in Makawao, Maui, she was a homemaker, seed and shell lei maker, and owner of Leong’s Pupu Ohana.

Private services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by daughters, Elizabeth (Patrick) Kanekoa of Kaneohe, Oahu, Les’lie Fernandez of Oahu, Leona (Dwayne) Porter and Suzu Campbell, both of Honolulu, Donna (Tom) Leong-Aguon of Kailua-Kona, Deborah (Michael) Gambill of Costa Mesa, Calif.; sons, Roger (Valerie) Leong of Nanakuli, Oahu, Homer (Lee) Leong of Kaneohe, Oahu, Lloyd (Soo-ling) Leong of Honokaa, Lance (Erica) Leong of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; two sisters; three brothers; 35 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Basil Crabtree

Basil Don Crabtree, 81, of Honaunau died Nov. 19, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Jan. 25, 1934, in Shawnee, Okla., he was the owner of Crabtree Home Repair.

Private service were held. Condolences may be sent to the family at P.O. Box 22, Honaunau, HI 96726.

He is survived by wife, Dianne Crabtree of Honaunau; daughters, Francine Soffner of Waikoloa, Christine (Michael Tom) Crabtree-Tom of Honaunau; son, Alan (Elizabeth) Crabtree of Honaunau; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; numerous siblings, nieces and nephews.

Arthur Stalb Jr.

Arthur Ralston Stalb Jr., 86, of Waikoloa died Oct. 3, 2015, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born Jan. 13, 1929, in Bayshore, N.Y., he worked in the areospace industry and was a consultant on national defense issues.

A private service was held.

He is survived by wife, Marian Stalb of Waikoloa; daughters, Cynthia (Michael) Hickman of Midlothian, Va., Stephanie (Joseph) Brajkovich of Campbell, Calif., Melissa Stalb of Waikoloa; sons, Arthur (Anita) Stalb III of Kailua-Kona, Douglas (Rhonda) Stalb of Huntsville, Ala.; brothers, Douglas (Teddy) Stalb of Summerville, S.C., Alan (Suzanne) Stalb of Windsor, Conn.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
