The number of confirmed dengue fever cases reached 170 on Tuesday, according to health officials.

Of the cases, 152 are Hawaii Island residents and 18 are visitors, according to the Department of Health. Thirty-six of the cases have been among children.

Since the end of October, when state health officials said they were investigating two possible cases of the virus, 670 suspect cases have been excluded based on test results and/or not meeting case criteria.

To report mosquito concerns, contact 322-4880 in West Hawaii and 974-6001 in East Hawaii.
