Responding to Gabbard shows ‘true colors!’

While I am not a true fan of Ms. Gabbard, I am a vet and respect her service to our country! I have never been able to figure out why a vet would want to be a Democrat, let alone support Obama — nor how they can believe in a Democrat/liberals misguided convictions.

That said, the letter from Thomas Powers on the 24th of December showed Hawaii and America in general just why our

system is broken! Bragging about being a “lifelong Democrat” and voting “party line” is revolting! Ms. Gabbard has shown us on a few occasions that she does have a mind of her own, even though I often disagree with her votes (in Congress) as a Representative of Hawaii.

It shouldn’t matter which party you belong to, having a spine and voting with your mind and heart should carry some significant weight! I am not a Fox News fan nor am I a fan of Sen. McCain (Term limits would fix him and those like Dan Inouye who serve(d) for the power it give them) but both have points worth listening to from time to time.

Mr. Powers shows us why Hawaii is a welfare state and labeled the worst state to do business in! Democrat control via mindless support of Democrats (like Thomas) have made “living in paradise” a selective privilege, not suited for everyone.

Our young people leave Hawaii for higher education and jobs because Democrats just don’t care about the people! Do some research regarding the homeless, the poor, one parent families, children born out of wedlock to young girls, single mothers raising their children without the help of the fathers who abandon them and skip out on support because they have jobs that pay cash so the courts can’t get at the money. Be proud, Mr. Powers, you and those like you encourage what is worng with “paradise!”

Reclaim, revitalize and rebuild lives and communities.

In the wake of the Gov. Ige’s recent emergency proclamation to tackle homelessness due to Hawaii having the highest rate of homelessness per capita in the United States, we feel it’s vitally urgent to immediately begin reintroducing vacant, foreclosed and distressed properties back into circulation by implementing the “Rebuild Communities Initiative.”

When foreclosed homes are left unattended it affects everyone in our community. They lower property values, invite crime and create health hazards. Vacant homes take an economic, physical and social toll on a community by attracting trespassers and squatters, as well as becoming a haven for illegal and dangerous activities.

We want families in these homes and to prevent the loss to those in jeopardy of losing their homes and further contributing to the epidemic homeless crisis. The Hawaii Homeowner Association will stabilize and revitalize our distressed communities, going above and beyond just addressing housing needs. We will be deploying collaborative efforts to promote community strengths, acquire, revitalize, rebuild, and reoccupy these abandoned foreclosed properties attracting residents as a catalyst for long-term social, economic and community recovery.

The “Rebuild Communities Initiative” provides for the acquisition of distressed and foreclosed properties, education, training, technical assistance, tools and resources to allow public, private and nonprofit partners to stabilize communities and implement comprehensive long-term revitalization strategies and help families have a home. Our first objective we will be in the state of Hawaii due to the emergency proclamation to tackle homelessness and Hawaii having the highest per capita rate of homelessness in the Nation.

Working with our partners, banks and mortgage holders, to reclaim and revitalize these properties and communities by creating opportunities for families to retain or reoccupy these homes, we will improve lives and strengthen communities.

I invite you to visit “ReclaimRevitalizeRebuild.org” and let us know what we can do for you.

We can’t solve homelessness, together we can prevent it.
