The total number of confirmed Big Island dengue cases increased by one to 182, health officials said Tuesday afternoon.
Of the confirmed cases, 164 are Hawaii Island residents and 18 are visitors. Thirty-six have been children.
The state Department of Health said Tuesday that just two of the confirmed cases remain potentially infectious to mosquitoes. The last onset of illness occurred Dec. 20.
Since the end of October, when state health officials first said they were investigating two possible cases of the virus, 727 suspect cases have been excluded based on test results and/or not meeting case criteria.
