The number of confirmed cases of dengue fever on the Big Island reached 210, health officials said Thursday.
An additional three cases of dengue fever were confirmed on the island Thursday, health officials said Wednesday afternoon. Of the confirmed cases, 190 are Hawaii Island residents and 20 are visitors. Thirty-nine have been children.
The state Department of Health said six of the confirmed cases remain potentially infectious to mosquitoes. The last onset of illness occurred Jan. 1.
Since the end of October, 823 suspect cases have been excluded based on test results and/or not meeting case criteria.
Meanwhile, Hookena and Milolii beach parks remain closed because of the outbreak.
