Kim Brookes Beatty

Kim Brookes Beatty, 60, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 21, 2015. He was born July 30, 1955, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Kim moved to Kona in 1974 and worked as a waiter at the old Kona Hilton and later at Huggo’s Restaurant.

Friends are welcome from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Mokuaikaua Church for a celebration of his life. No flowers. Private scattering of ashes to follow service.

He is survived by his brother, Michael (Ululani) Beatty of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Sherry Glass of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Deborah Beatty of Kihei, Maui; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charlotte Mercado

Charlotte P. Mercado, 81, of Pahoa died Dec. 27, 2015, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born on April 8, 1934, in Pepeekeo, she was a homemaker and a member of the Glad Tidings Church in Hilo.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Jan. 12 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn. Burial will follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2.

She is survived by daughters, Marcia Doctor of Pahoa, Renee Alvarez of Stockton, Calif., Kathy Askew of Denver, Colo.; son, Greg Rapoza of Volcano; hanai daughter, Bernie Pacheco of Pahoa; brothers, Douglas (Alice) Gomes of Menefee, Calif., Clayton Gomes of Hilo; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lorraine Morisato

Lorraine “Agi” Kalauwaeomakana Hoohuli Morisato, 49, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 12, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 11, 1966, in Kealakekua, she was a laundry attendant at Tyke’s Laundromat and J&K Wash.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 16 at the family’s residence, 74-975 Lealea St. in Kealakehe for a service. The family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Paul Morisato Jr., of Kailua-Kona; hanai daughter, Jamie Algoso of Honolulu; brothers, Calvin (Loke) Hoohuli of Holualoa, Melvin (Kristie) Hoohuli of Kealakehe, Bulla Villanueva of Kailua-Kona, Makaio Abraham of Kalaoa; sisters, Linda (Bruce) Aipia of Ocean View, Kuulei (Jim Wiese) Hoohuli, Julie Hoohuli, all of Kailua-Kona, Clara Bell Abian of Oregon; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
