Norman Macomber Sr.

Norman Kauhane Macomber Sr., 73, of Hilo, died Dec. 27, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kona/Waikii, he was a retired structural iron worker with the Iron Workers Union Local 625, U.S. Army veteran, an avid golfer, and member of Puhi Bay Ohana and Aupuni ‘O Hawaii.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. Jan. 15 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 7 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Pearl Macomber of Hilo; sons, James Macomber, Romann Macomber, Ryon Macomber, all of Hilo; daughters, Elythe Macomber, Norelle Kaoiwi, both of Hilo, Alora Macomber of Las Vegas; brothers, Eddie (Trisha) Macomber of Keaau, (Pastor) Bobby (Thelma) Macomber of Kona; sister, Daisy Spalding of Hilo; numerous grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Dolly Kahler-Egami

Dolly Kuuipo Kawaakoa Kahler-Egami, 73, of Laguna Niguel, Calif., died at the Saddleback Memorial Hospital in Laguna Hills on Dec. 30, 2015. She was born in Wahiawa, Oahu, and was a homemaker.

A funeral service was Jan. 11. Friends may call at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No 2 at 9 a.m. Jan. 12 for Graveside committal services. The family requests casual attire and that flowers be omitted.

She is survived by sons, Walter Egami Jr. of Hilo, and Darrell Egami Sr. of Hilo; daughters, Mariann Kalani (Joe) Vasquez of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Jennifer (Brett) McNamara of Pahoa, Pamela (Harold) Nakooka of Maui and CathyAnn L. Kawaakoa of Takoma, Washington D.C.; sisters, Lorraine Kaikala of Nanakuli, Oahu, Aileen (Earl) Sayre of Cleveland, Ohio, Pulani (David) Kamai of Nanakuli, Oahu, Donna (Lloyd) Bergau of Pahoa, and Debra (Saul) Maleieha of Waimanalo, Oahu; 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Galicano Celion

Galicano Celion, 85, of Hilo died Jan. 1, 2016, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Kainaliu, he was a retired agronomist for the former Mauna Kea Agri Business and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

A graveside service will take place at 9 a.m. Jan. 13 at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family reqests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by sister, Conchita Partoson of Maui; half-sisters, Priscilla (Tom) Bradley of Oregon, Fanny Dazo of the Philippines; half-brothers, Ernest Labardor of Waipahu, Roger Bagarino of Honokaa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nancy Frazier

Nancy Jane Briz Frazier, 99, of Honolulu died Jan. 1, 2016. Born in Astoria, Ore., she was a homemaker for her family.

Services will begin at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 12 at Arcadia Retirement Residence in Honolulu. Aloha attire.

She is survived by son, Richard Frazier; daughter: Bonnie Andrew; five grandchildren; and six-great-grandchildren.

Donations can be made to Arcadia Memorial Irrevocable Trust.

Shirley Tripp

Shirley Rosalie Tripp, 82, of Hilo, died Jan. 5, 2016, at home. She was born on Dec. 1, 1933, in Hilo; she was a homemaker and a member of Hawaiian Bowling Club, St. Joseph School Alumni Association, Hilo Women’s Bowling Club, Hawaii Family and Community Education member and Malia Puka O Kalani Church Food Bank, accountant and choir member.

Friends may call on Jan. 14 at the Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church, 326 Desha Ave., in Keaukaha, Visitation from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Wake service at 7 p.m. Friends may call again on Jan. 15 at the Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church, 326 Desha Ave. in Keaukaha, Visitation from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.; Celebration of Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire; flowers and lei are welcomed; burial at Homelani Memorial Park (Lehua Section).

She is survived by husband, Rupert Tripp Sr. of Hilo; daughters, Nalani (Lloyd) Longakit, Janin (Brian) Iopa-Tripp, Bridget “Wela” (Marcia Aki) Tripp, Alice “Poochie” Tavares, Darlene (Ben) Casuga, Bernadine “Kuulei” (Willie) Garcia and Wendy (Milton) Waipa all from Hilo; son, Rupert “Bull” (Adele) Tripp, Jr. of Hilo; hanai sister Maybelle Kumali of Hilo; brothers, Randy “Fookie” Chu of Argentina, Albert (Marie) Kelson, William “Ungie” (Faith) Chu, Jr. and Ronald Chu of Hilo; sister, Gwen Huston of Hilo; 23 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.
