Felipa “Fely” Susanna Lato, 80, of Hilo died Jan. 3, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker, former self-employed macadamia nut harvester and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. Jan. 28 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may call again at 9 a.m. Jan. 29 at St. Joseph Catholic Church for a 10:30 a.m. Mass. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by daughters, ValerieSue Carron, Claudia Lato, Doreen (August Aina) Lato, all of Hilo, JaniceFay Villanueva, Lorri (Derek) Lum, both of Honolulu, Charlene (Richard) Villanueva of Oceanside, Calif.; sons, BillyDale (Tara) Lato, Nelson (Kainoa) Lato, both of Hilo; sister, Enobiba (Solomon) Kaholoaa of Hilo; 32 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Matias Tolentino

Matias Tumamao Tolentino, 95, of Keaau died Jan. 2, 2016, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Feb. 19, 1920, in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was the proprietor of a papaya farm on the Big Island.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pahoa for a 7 p.m. service. Visitation will continue from 8 to 10 a.m. Jan. 30 at the church. A Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Homelani Memorial Park in Hilo. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by daughters, Tereza Agpawa of Keaau, Anita (Ramon) Andres of San Jose, Calif.; sons, Florencio Tolentino of Keaau, Paulino (Nancy) Tolentino of Pahoa; sisters, Eulogia Tolentino, Felicia (Cypriano) Pinera, both of the Philippines; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Litnusjohn Tonga

Litnusjohn Tonga, 39, of Volcano died Jan. 15, 2016. Litnusjohn was born on Oct. 13, 1976, in Hilo.

Celebration of life will be held at Ballard Family Mortuary in Hilo Jan. 29. Visitation is at 4 p.m. Service is at 7 p.m.

He is survived by mother, Shirley Tonga of Hilo; brothers, Danny (Mary) Tonga of Ainaloa, Steven (Lei) Tonga of Honolulu; sister, Lulianna Tonga of Hilo; hanai mother Kuulei Cooper of Hilo; hanai brothers, Sapolo (Tara) Kahalioumi of Kona and Bronson (Shana) Young of Hilo; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins.

Dolores Quimoyog Aurelio, 79, of Pahala died Jan. 7, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 25, 1936, in Banna, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a hand harvester for a Macadamia Nut Co. and a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Pahala.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Jan. 30 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Pahala for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial will be at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

She is survived by sons, Edgar (Imelda) Aurelio, Robert (Elizabeth) Aurelio, both of Pahala, Cesar (Adora) Aurelio of Honolulu; stepson, Jerry Aurelio of the Philippines; daughters, Delia Aguinaldo, Luida (Ferman) Susa and Amelia (Ferdinand) Capuz, all of Honolulu, Lilybeth (Florentino) Orcino of Pahala; sister, Victoria (Rocky) Arios of Honolulu; 22 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Trinidad Barrientos

Trinidad Olpindo Barrientos, 78, of Papaaloa died Jan. 9, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on May 1, 1937, in Alcala Pangasinan, Philippines, she retired from Kahua Ranch Flower and Tomato Nursery and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Honokaa.

Friends may call at 1 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Honokaa for a service.

She is survived by daughters, Josefina (Clemencio) Navalta of Papaaloa, Ligaya (Eddie) Monegas of Waimea; sons, Rodel Barrientos, Larry Barrientos, both of the Philippines, Eloy (Chauvin) Barrientos of Laupahohoe; 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Miriam Hamakawa

Miriam Yukiko Hamakawa, 83, of Hilo died Dec. 23, 2015, at home. She was born Aug. 11, 1932, in Hilo.

Mabel Silva, 77, of Hilo died Jan. 14, 2016, at home. Born Nov. 9, 1938, in Kohala, she was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi.

S. Ray Fornof

S. Ray “Doc” Fornof, 87, of Pepeekeo, died on Jan. 4, 2016, at his home. Born April 26, 1928, in Pittsburgh, he was a sales representative for Nordskog Industries and Grainger Industrial Supply, U.S. Marine Corps World War II veteran, member of the Iwo Jima USMC Memorial Association, UH Hilo Athletic Hall of Fame, volunteer for the UHH Athletic Department, and a past president and member of the Vulcan Booster Club.

No services.

He is survived by son, Keith Fornof of Santa Ana, Calif.; daughter, Pamela Burger Fornof of Portland, Ore.; and two other children; brother, Richard Leigh “Dic” Fornof of Northridge, Calif.; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
