Robbery of woman reported in Puna

Police are investigating a Tuesday morning robbery in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision in Puna.

A 30-year-old woman was checking her mailbox on Paradise Drive near the intersection of 21st Avenue between 8:45 and 9 a.m. when she was confronted a man with a knife who demanded money. The suspect fled into the bushes after removing cash from the victim’s wallet, police said.

He was described as in his mid-30s, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot 8, with short brown hair and a tan complexion. He was wearing a grey or white tank top and black shorts.
