A high surf advisory remains posted until 6 a.m. Friday for the Kona and Kohala coasts.

The National Weather Service says wave heights of 5 to 8 feet along west-facing shores of the affected coasts.

Forecasters categorized the surf’s impact as “moderate,” cautioning of strong breaking waves, shore break and longshore and rip currents. Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials.
