A man is in custody as law enforcement officers investigate a Tuesday night arson in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates.

James Mark Thomas, 38, of Ocean View, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of first-degree arson, according to the Hawaii Police Department.

He was also arrested on unrelated bench warrants and charged with violating terms of conditional discharged and two counts of contempt of court. He is being held at the Kona police cellblock while detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section continue arson investigation.

The fire was reported at 5:50 p.m. and completely destroyed the home on Bamboo Lane, according to Chris Loos, media relations specialist for the department. At the time it was occupied by two women and two teenage boys.
