Glenn Rodrigues Sr.

Glenn “Chumpy” Joseph Rodrigues Sr., 69, of Hilo died Jan. 20, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 11, 1946, in Hilo, he was a retired groundskeeper for the County Department of Parks and Recreation, an umpire and member of the National Federation of State High School Assoc. and a U.S. Navy veteran.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. Feb. 4 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo for a 6 p.m. service. Friends may calso call at 9 a.m. Feb. 5 at the mortuary for a 10 a.m. service. Burial will follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by son, Glenn Rodrigues Jr. of Hilo; daughter, Desiree (James Jr.) Delo Santos of Mountain View; sister, Maureen Rodrigues of Hilo; three grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lawrence Carter Sr.

Lawrence Chester Carter, Sr., 62, of Hilo died Jan. 4, 2016, at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired plumber for Keith Shigehara Plumbing, a U.S. Army veteran and member of Hilo Trollers Fishing Tournament.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. Feb. 5 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo for a 6 p.m. service. Friends may call again at 9 a.m Feb. 6 at the mortuary for a 10 a.m. service. Cremation will follow. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Survived by wife, Debbie (Leopoldino) Carter of Hilo; sons, Jonathan Carter Lawrence Carter Jr., Gene Carter, all of Hilo; daughters, Patricia (Lee Marvin Jr.) Ugalde, Edith (Garen Comer) Carter, Clarice (Dane) Crivello, all of Hilo; mother, Mary Naope-Crum of Hilo; sister, M. Nani Naope of Hilo; brothers, Ralph (Aileen) Crum Jr., Calavin (Jan) Crum Sr., Francis Crum, Cedric Kailikini, all of Hilo, Joseph (Cindy) Kaina Sr. of Makakilo, Oahu; eight grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Frances Epenesa

Frances Victoria Epenesa, 72, of Honokaa died Jan. 23, 2016, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born June 8, 1943, in Honokaa, she was a retired A+ teacher’s aide and substitute teacher at Honokaa Elementary School and member of the Honokaa Methodist Church.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Feb. 6 at Honokaa Methodist Church for a 10 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers and lei are welcome.

She is survived by sons, Lala (Natalie) Epenesa Jr. of Honokaa, Presely (Christine) Epenesa of Kailua-Kona, Nathan (Kanoe Kamanu) Epenesa of Waimea; daughters, Luisa (Diamond) Beamer Epenesa, Perenise (Lionel) Valdez, both of Waimea, Noella (Darryl) Pagud of Kapaa; sister, Carmen (Harold) Alfiler of Honokaa; brothers, Alan (Laring) Vallente of Seattle, Ralph (Linda) Cordoban of Honolulu, 10 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Janet Coit, 60, of Hawi died Jan. 3, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born July 29, 1955, in Kohala, she was a former lab assistant for Clinical Labs of Hawaii, member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi, the Ahahui Kaahumanu Society of Kohala and the Hawaiian Civic Club.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Feb. 6 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hawi for a Mass. Urn burial will follow at Halawa Catholic Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by son, Wesley (Rubelyn Lagura-Coit) Coit Jr. of Kohala; brother, Frederick (Donna) Tabarejo of Hawaiian Beaches; sisters, Ipo Tabarejo of Kohala, Barbara (Laine) Ishikuro of Honokaa and Darlene (Pedro) Perera of Oregon; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Keith Gonsalves

Keith Nakoa Gonsalves, 25, of Hilo died Jan. 5, 2016. He was born Feb. 6, 1990, in Honolulu.

Yaeko Bolos

Yaeko Bolos, 82, of Hilo died Jan. 9, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Manchuria, she was a homemaker and member of the G.G.G. Golf Club, A.J.A. Golf Club, Reed’s Bay Golf Club and Lehua Golf Club.

Private services were held.

She is survived by sons, Dell (Dina) Bolos of Hilo, Gary (Teri) Bolos of Honolulu; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews.

Darrel Gibson

Darrel Leroy Gibson, 51, of Keaau died Jan. 20, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 28, 1964, in Honolulu, he was self-employed.

Private services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Lynn Gibson of Keaau; sons, Kalike Domen of Keaau, Robert Gibson, and Robert Souza, both of Wahiawa, Oahu; daughter, Cheryl (Brandon) Reeves of New Jersey, Kanoe Roddie of Pearl City, Oahu; brother, Raymond Mamea of Wahiawa, Oahu; sisters, Lucinda (Aaron) Bustillos of Keaau, Duffy Gibson of Honolulu, Sophia Mamea of Wahiawa, Oahu; 10 grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
