The second annual Flow Fest gets underway this evening and continues through Sunday at Uncle Robert’s Awa Club in Kalapana.

The dynamic, vibrant festival aimed at progressing a sustainable and bright future for Puna, will showcase a multitude of music, craft/food vendors, workshops, hula and inspirational speakers.

A myriad styles can be expected from Hawaii and beyond with talented artists including Cas Haley, Mike Love, Dustin Thomas, Heatbox, Sara Tone, Kaahele, Ydine and 40 other acts. Flow Fest 2016 will feature two stages with nonstop music and entertainment. Saturday night will feature a community performance of the “Bana Kuma,” directed by Chris Berry and featuring over 50 members of the local area. This high-energy performance features drumming, Marimba, a community chorus and various Western instruments.

Flow Fest was created from the 2015 lava threat, offering an inspiration for Puna to move toward a bright future. With uplifting music and the sharing of ancient and new ideas, a sense of hope was reignited in troubling times. The event drew 1,500 attendees last year.

Proceeds from Flow Fest go to Uncle’s Awa Club and the Panjea Foundation, which continues to conduct sustainability projects on an 18-acre farm in Puna. Tickets are $65 and can be purchased at www.theflowfestival.com.
