Jack Martin

Mr. Jack Randall Martin, 58, Kailua-Kona, died Jan. 15, 2016 at his home. Born in San Pablo, Calif., on June 27, 1957, a bachelor’s degree in classical music, he was a teacher and performing musician. He was the founder of the band Jack and the Rippers; and was a member of other various bands in Kona.

A celebration of his life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 28 at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona. The family requests casual attire. A musicians jam will be held later that evening from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Kona Elks Club in the old industrial area.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Welch-Martin of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Keelee Martin of Kailua-Kona, and mother, Jeannette Martin of Palm Desert, Calif.

Agnes Bello

Agnes “Aggie” Branco Bello, 88, of Hilo died Feb. 11, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born at Laupahoehoe Point, she was a baker at Honokaa School, homemaker, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Portuguese Cultural Club, founding member of the Reeds Bay Golf Club and member of several other golf clubs in Hilo.

Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 23 at St. Joseph Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at Homelani Memorial Park Ilima Section. A luncheon is planned at Carvalho Park Pavilion. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by sons, Wendell (Netta) Branco of Honokaa, Paul (Melody Parker) Bello, Guy Bello, both of Hilo, Moe (Stephanie) Bello of Keaau; brother, Edwin (Bonnie) Castillo of Honokaa; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Nellie Carvalho

Nellie Jane Carvalho, 83, of Honokaa died Feb. 1, 2016, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born March 21, 1932, in Kalopa, she was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa, Hawaiian Quilting Club and the Portuguese Heritage Club of Hamakua.

Private services will be held.

She is survived by husband, George Carvalho of Honokaa; sons, Bradley (Jocelyn) Carvalho, Carter (Leina) Carvalho, both of Waimea; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
