Kiwanis Club meets Wednesday

Kiwanis Club of Kailua-Kona will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday upstairs of Humpy’s in Coconut Grove Marketplace on Alii Drive. All visiting Kiwanis and prospective members are invited. Kirstin Kahaloa of the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce will speak.

Keith awarded scholarship

Rose Keith of Kailua-Kona has received the Military Appreciation Scholarship from Western Governors University. As a nonprofit, online university that is committed to making higher education more affordable and accessible, WGU typically awards scholarships based on the applicant’s academic record, readiness for online study, financial need, and other considerations.

Local students make dean’s list at Azusa Pacific

Elijah Cacal, an undeclared major, Eric Dong, an English major and Brandt Mabuni, an international business major, all of Kailua-Kona, made the academic dean’s list at Azusa Pacific University. They are honored for a fall grade-point average of 3.5 or better. They are joined by 2,230 students receiving the same honor.

Azusa Pacific University is an evangelical Christian university committed to God first and excellence in higher education.

Seniors plan trip to Panawea zoo

The Kailua-Kona Seniors meet at 8 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai for a trip to Panaewa Zoo in Hilo. Attendees must be paid members who have signed up and paid for the trip. Bring a bag lunch.
