While things are set at the top of BIIF Division II softball, much is still to be determined down below.

This much is known: Kamehameha, which toppled Honokaa 9-3 on Tuesday, already owns a berth to the HHSAA tournament as the regular season champion and owns the top seed at BIIFs.

Mykala Tokunaga struck out six for the Warriors (12-0) in a complete game at Honokaa Park, allowing seven hits and three walks, and she went 3 for 5 at the plate with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Makena Wagner (2 for 3, triple) was her team’s biggest run producer, driving in four and scoring twice.

Kamehameha’s opponent in the BIIF semifinals is still unknown because matters get murky for spots Nos. 2-4.

The Dragons (7-6) lost their second in a row to fall into fourth place, though the hardest portion of their regular season schedule is behind them and they are only a half-game out of second.

“They’re up and down right now,” Honokaa coach Wesley Fujimoto said. “Today was a little better. If we can get a little more consistent, we should be OK.”

Keesha Matsuoka started but retired just one batter and allowed five runs on two hits and five walks. Destynee Carvalho worked the last 6 2/3, yielding four runs on seven hits and five walks with two strikeouts.

Maluhia Sanchez hit a two-run double for Honokaa and Sarah Sedillo went 2 for 4.

Konawaena and Kohala each won Tuesday and are tied for second at 7-5 heading into their matchup Thursday in Kealakekua.

A victory by the Cowgirls would put them in the driver’s seat for the second seed and home-field advantage in the BIIF semifinals. The Wildcats still have the toughest remaining schedule, with games remaining Monday at Honokaa, Saturday at Waiakea and April 9 at Kamehameha.
