Kawehi will perform May 5 at Kahilu Theatre 5 as part of her Island Tour 2016.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at p.m. at the Waimea theater. Tickets range in price from $15 to $30.

She is known for her opinionated songwriting, centering her music messages around social issue and injustices.

Kawehi will play on Maui at the McCoy Theater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center on May 6, and in Honolulu at The Republik on May 7.
