For Junior Ranger Day on Saturday, keiki age 17 and younger are invited to join park rangers in Kahuku for a day of discovery from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will hike the lower Palm Trail and learn to make traditional string figures called hei. On April 20, kupuna hula group Haunani’s Aloha Expressions will perform for free 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Kilauea Visitor Center Auditorium.

From 10 a.m. to noon April 24, the park will host a “National Park Rx Day,” a community health initiative to “prescribe” time in parks to promote wellness. Park rangers and Craig Kadooka will lead an easy one-mile roundtrip hike of upper Iliahi Trail. Meet at 10 a.m. on the Kilauea Visitor Center lanai. The first 200 walkers will receive a reusable water bottle and fresh fruit.
