Roland Perez Sr.

Roland Kiaaina Perez Sr., 59, of Kailua-Kona, died March 13, 2016, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 22, 1956, in North Kohala, he was a retired deputy sheriff and member of New Hope Legacy.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. April 22 at Gospel of Salvation Church in Kokoiki, North Kohala for visitation. Light refreshments will be served. Visitation will continue 9 a.m. April 23 at Gospel of Salvation Church in Kokoiki, North Kohala. A service is planned at 10:30 a.m. with a luau to follow. Casual attire. Condolences may be sent to the family c/o Ginny Perez, 75-5660 Kopiko St., Ste. C-7 PMB 417, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740. Scattering of ashes will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Ginny Perez; daughters, Jody Hook, both of Kailua Kona, Jesslie Hook, Kyleigh (Micah) Jones, all of Hilo, Jade Perez of Kailua-Kona; sons, Kia (Kayley) Perez Jr. of Kapolei, Pahu, Gabriel (Kalae Torres) Perez of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Willy (Kwaj) Perez of North Kohala, Kaleo (Kathy) Perez of Lihue, Kauai, Andrew (Tracy) Carvalho of Kailua-Kona, David (Nancy) Puhi of St. Louis; sisters, Leina (Carter) Carvalho, Mapuana Carvalho, all of Waimea, Barbra Lani (Garret) Sugata of North Kohala; nine grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces.

Sonja Corpus

Sonja Kimiko Corpus, 77, Kailua-Kona died March 1, 2016, at her residence. Born February 23, 1939, in Honaunau, she was a homemaker and member of the Teacher’s Bowling League, Kona Seniors Bowling League, Parks and Recreation Bowling League and a volunteer for the Office of Aging.

Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. April 22 at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis (Ui) Corpus, Koa (Shiho) Corpus, both of Kailua-Kona, Keala (Carlene) Corpus of Long Beach, Calif., Eric (Maria) Corpus of Virginia Beach, Va.; daughter, Stephanie Cronk of Kapolei, Oahu; sister, Denette Sonoda of Captain Cook; brother, Noble (Joanne) Sonoda of Captain Cook; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ayako Yamane

Ayako Ethel Yamane, 91, of Hilo died March 28, 2016, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Jan. 4, 1925, in Pepeekeo, she was a homemaker.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

She is survived by sister, Shimeno Ogawa of Gardena, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews.
