Sylvia Young

Sylvia Carol Keohoaeaeokahakukaalani Young, 80, of Hilo died April 14, 2016, in Waimea. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired elementary school teacher at Hilo Union School, former choir director of the St. Joseph Aloha Choir and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo and Kamehameha Schools Alumni Choir.

Friends may call from 9–10:30 a.m. May 9 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. Mass. Casual attire.

She is survived by sons, Gary (Charlene) Young of Fremont, Calif., Stephen (Ann) Young of Kaneohe, Oahu, Alan Young of Honolulu; daughters, Laura Young of Honolulu, Jeannette (Samuel Peterson) Young of Waimea; five grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pedrita Genesiran

Pedrita Fuego Genesiran, 83, of Kailua-Kona died April 27, 2016, at her residence. Born June 29, 1932, in Jimenez Misamis Occidental, Philippines, she was a homemaker and member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. May 10 at the family’s residence, 75-199A Kalani St. in Kailua-Kona for an all night vigil. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. May 11 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona for 10 a.m. Mass, followed by burial at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. The family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

She is survived by sons, Rodrigo Genesiran, Julito (Juanita) Genesiran, all of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Valeria (Glorioso) Gadot, Levie (Clifford) Gaspar, Jeany (Joyce) Genesiran, Shirley (John) Genovia, all of Kailua-Kona; 23 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kazuo Iwamuro

Mr. Kazuo “Kats” Iwamuro, 93, of Kawanui, died April 12 at his residence. Born in Honolulu on April 27, 1922, he was a retired painter for the Department of Accounting and General Services.

Private services were held. The family requests no koden or flowers please.

He is survived by his wife, Ayako Iwamuro of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Shirlene (Harold Murata) Yoneyama, Karene (Gerald) Ota, Verna (Wayne) Fukunaga, Lorna Matsuoka, Sandra (Vance) Awa, all of Kailua-Kona, and Darylyne (Leslie) Wachi of Hilo; brothers, Wallace (Joyce) Iwamuro, and Gary (Ruth) Iwamuro, all of Oahu, Michael (Mildred) Iwamuro, and Richard Iwamuro, all of Kailua-Kona, and Arnold (James Kahler) Iwamuro of Maui; sisters, Yoshie Miyamoto of Las Vegas, and Gladys (Richard) Shigeta of Oahu; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews.

Francis Morris

Francis Arnold Morris, 93, of Hilo died April 23, 2106, at the Life Care Center in Hilo. Born March 7, 1923, in Spiro, Oklahoma, he retired as a custodian from a Junior College as well as the U.S. Navy.

Private services to be held.

He is survived by wife, Belva Morris of Hilo; son, Richard (Diana) Milligan of Hilo; brother, Harold (Betty) Morris of Pacola; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
