Kiwanis Club meets Wednesday

Kiwanis Club of Kailua-Kona will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Humpy’s upstairs room in Coconut Grove Marketplace on Alii Drive. All visiting Kiwanis and prospective members are invited to attend. The speaker will be Susan M. Kim, governor’s representative.

Kiwanis looks to serve the community by conducting service projects that respond to identified needs, especially related to children.

Rabara makes college honor roll

Michael K. Rabara of Kealakekua was named to the spring semester honor roll at McPherson College.

To qualify for the honor roll, students must be full-time and earn a grade point average of 3.55 or higher during the previous term.

Rabara is a junior at the school.

Camp Tarawa Detachment meets Saturday

The Camp Tarawa Detachment No. 1255 of the Marine Corps League will hold its monthly meeting at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the VFW Post, 74-5543 Kaiwi St. Suite 185A, behind Kona Locksmith.

Attendees are invited to join a no-host lunch at 11:30 a.m. and stay for lunch at 1 p.m. All Marines and Navy Corpsmen serving, retired or reserve and their spouses are invited. Dress is resort casual.

Meditation class planned

Teachings of awakening with Gavin Harrison is offered from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at 73-4548 Mahi St, Kailua-Kona.

Sitting and walking meditation with dialogue and time for questions is planned. Groups are nondenominational and open to all. Attendees should bring a meditation cushion. Chairs are available. Donations are accepted.
