Children’s author Rosemary Wells will visit Kona Stories Saturday.

Wells is the author of “Ten Kisses for Sophie,” a story about an irrepressible, charming, and endearing 2-year-old, Sophie. With a party planned, Sophie and her mother make a very special treat: chocolate kisses with pistachio cream filling. There will be nine guests plus Sophie, and they’ve made ten kisses. Just enough. But then the telephone rings and everything changes. Irrepressible Sophie charms readers once again in a story that goes straight to the heart of toddler concerns.

Wells’ career as an author and illustrator spans more than 30 years and 60 books. She has won numerous awards, and has given readers such unforgettable characters as Max and Ruby, Noisy Nora, and Yoko. She has also given Mother Goose new life in two enormous, definitive editions, published by Candlewick. Wells wrote and illustrated” Unfortunately Harriet,” her first book, in 1972.

During the 11 a.m. event, Wells will also sign books.
