KEALAKEKUA — The man who was reported driving recklessly by several drivers and who, upon arrest, allegedly had multiple drugs in the vehicle, entered a not-guilty plea Monday.

Cory Wong-Yuen, also known as Cory Young, was charged with 21 counts, including first-degree methamphetamine trafficking, four counts of third-degree promotion of dangerous drugs, first-degree promotion of detrimental drugs, second-degree promotion of detrimental drugs, two counts of possessing drug paraphernalia, eight firearm offenses, reckless driving, driving without a license and driving without insurance.

He was arrested on Route 200 near the Route 190 intersection on May 25.

Police said they found two packets with .2 grams of meth on Wong-Yuen’s person.

When officers searched the vehicle after obtaining a warrant, they reportedly recovered a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, 29 unspent rounds of ammunition, 189.4 grams of methamphetamine packaged for distribution, 0.6 grams of cocaine, 18 hydrocodone pills, four morphine pills, 202.2 grams of marijuana packaged for distribution, and paraphernalia associated with the use and distribution of methamphetamine and marijuana.

He was already under investigation by the Area I Vice unit, and was charged with one count of first-degree promotion of detrimental drugs and three counts each of third-degree promotion of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

His bond had originally been set at $296,000, then Judge Margaret Masunaga set it at $70,000. Wong-Yuen’s pretrial conference is scheduled for Aug. 10.
