Tropical Fruit Growers meet Monday

The West Hawaii chapter of Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at 81-6393 Mamalahoa Highway.

Dino Maruyama will speak on custom soil mixes. John Griffis, a surinam cherry specialist, is also expected to attend.

Nonmembers are welcome. Attendees are encouraged to bring fruit for sampling and to talk story.

Suicide prevention training offered

A suicide prevention training will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at West Hawaii Civic Center Community Hale conference room.

Participants must attend the entire class on both days. The training is offered free of charge compliments of the State Deptartment of Health, West Hawaii Suicide Prevention Task Force and the Hawaii Island Suicide Prevention Foundation.

Free Bible camp planned

Cave Quest, Following Jesus the Light of the World is a free Bible camp for kindergarteners through sixth-graders offered from 4-7 p.m. June 22-24 at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 74-4972 Kealakaa St. A free meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. On Tuesday, a pre-registration and game time is planned from 4-5:30 p.m. On June 25, a parents’ fun time will feature the children performing the songs and dances will be followed by games and entertainment from 5-7 p.m.
