Girlie Paras
Girlie “Annie” Andrada Paras, 65, of Hilo died May 24, 2016, at The Queen’s Medical Center. Born June 23, 1950, in Manila, Philippines, she was a retired certified nurse aide for Hilo Medical Center, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, Filipino Catholic Club, the Puainako Prayer Group, the Wainaku Prayer Group, the Hilo Visayan Club and the Blessed Sacrament Agregate.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. June 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hilo for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. June 21 at the church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial will follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Casual attire.
She is survived by husband, Jose Paras of Hilo; daughter, Marian Paras of Hilo; brothers, Alejo Jr. (Melendrina) Fabia of Keaau, Charlie (Marlina) Fabia of Honolulu; sisters, Leticia (Ceferino) Pertubal of Pearl City, Oahu, Erlinda Fabia, Purita (Danilo) Nosis, Mila (Cesar) Lansangan, Wilma Cacatian and Olga (Ferdinand) Manzon, all of Honolulu; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joseph Huddy
Joseph “Uncle Joe” Luahine Huddy, of Waimea died May 7, 2016, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born July 7, 1937, in Kilauea, Kauai, he was a retired firefighter for the Honolulu Fire Department, a police officer for the Honolulu Police Department, an Air Force veteran, member of the Waimea Paniolo Softball Team and Imiola Congregational Church.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. June 25 at Imiola Congregational Church for a 10:30 to noon celebration of life. Ashes will be scattered at a later date. Family requests casual attire. Condolences may be posted at homelanimemorialpark.com.
He is survived by spouse, Charlotte Huddy of Waimea; daughter, Desiree (Logan) Huddy-Akau of Waimea; sister, Margaret (Ronald) Brack of Ewa Beach, Oahu; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Ernie Cruz Sr.
Rev. Ernie “Waimea Cowboy” Cruz Sr. 76, of Glendale, Ariz., formerly of the Big Island, died May 14, 2016, at his home. Born in Modesto, Calif., he was a patriarch of one of Hawaii’s greatest music families and former pastor at New Hope Puna and Assembly of God churches and a Marine Corps Vietnam veteran.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. June 26 at New Hope Hilo for a 6 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by wife, Maggie Cruz; daughters, Ernelle (Bill) Downs, Desiree (James O’Connor) Cruz, Stephanie (Bruce) Tyrin, Sarah Cruz, Marissa Meredith, Tiffany (Imua) Garza, Connie (Eddie) Rincon; sons, Ernie (Kahelelani) Cruz Jr., David (Kelli Heath) Cruz, John Cruz, Tony (Tricia) Cruz, Guy (Jon Lawrence) Cruz; sisters, Linda (Bettincourt) Cruz, Rita Cruz, Dorothy Cruz; 20 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Yaeko Shiotsuka
Yaeko Shiotsuka, 94, of Napoopoo died June 8, 2016, at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 17, 1921, in Hilo, Hawaii, he was a former board member of Kona Trans, a member of Tsuchimutsu Kumiai, Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, Kona Hongwanji Fujin Kai and Kona Hongwanji Shinwa Kai.
A private service for family members will be held at a later date.
She is survived by her sons, Ronald Shiotsuka of Captain Cook, Albert Shiotsuka of Kailua-Kona; daughter, June (Sam) Taguma of Kailua-Kona; brother, Thomas Nakano of Honolulu; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
