Column too one sided

Mikie Kerr’s Constitutional Corner opinion in WHT was fascinating. It lambasted the Department of Education as being not “constitutional” and therefore a waste. News flash for Ms. Kerr.

In 1776, they had slaves, wore tri-cornered hats and loaded their muskets one ball at at time. They weren’t overly concerned with curing cancer, exploring space or competing globally with every other country on Earth. Her column would be better titled, Tea Party Rant.

Attack a wake-up call

The recent unprovoked violent attack on John Hartley, a 57-year-old homeless amputee in Pahoa, is a wake-up call to Hawaii’s politicians that we have failed to protect our most vulnerable citizens in Hawaii’s housing crisis.

Here in Hawaii, all citizens deserve a safe place to live. There is no excuse to have billion dollar resorts, yet due to colonialism and occupation, we also have people sleeping on the streets.

As a Hawaiian Nationalist, I view the police as an illegitimate and therefore don’t support them. But I do believe that honorable Pahoa-area citizens can identify those responsible for this senseless assault and together condemn their actions in an effective way, that prevents recidivism and punishes the offender(s).

Don’t trust Tulsi on guns

This is from a list on Huff Post:

Rep. Gabbard has declined to co-sponsor any common sense gun control legislation, including H.R.4269 — the Assault Weapons Ban of 2015 — which is co-sponsored by 125 of “Gabbard’s fellow Democrats.

Here are the other nine gun bills that Gabbard has NOT supported:

H.R.4748—Imported Assault Weapons Ban of 2016

H.R.3926 — Gun Violence Research Act

H.R.3411 — Fix Gun Checks Act of 2015

H.R.2380 — Gun Show Loophole Closing Act of 2015

H.R.1745 — Support Assault Firearms Elimination and Reduction for our Streets Act

H.R.752 — Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act

H.R.226 — Keeping Guns from High Risk Individuals Act

H.R.225 — Firearm Safety Act of 2015

H.R.224 — To require the surgeon general of the Public Health Service to submit to Congress an annual report on the effects of gun violence on public health.

If Tulsi Gabbard does not support common sense gun laws, she should let the residents of her district know that before they go to the polls this August.”

That is why I did not trust nor vote for Ms. Tulsi Gabbard in the last election and I will not vote for her again. I hope a real Democrat will challenge her in our next election.
