KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Island residents looking for some face time with Gov. David Ige will soon get their chance.
The governor will host a Community Connection town hall meeting from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawaii Community College — Palamanui, 73-4225 Ane Keohokalole Highway, in Kailua-Kona.
Also in attendance will be Scott Morishige, the governor’s coordinator on homelessness, as well as representatives from the Department of Land and Natural Resources, the Department of Transportation and the Department of Agriculture.
“It’s a community forum to get grassroots feedback and encourage future collaboration,” said Susan Kim, the governor’s representative on Hawaii Island. “These were some of the departments we thought would be relevant (to address local concerns).”
All members of the community are invited to attend and are encouraged to bring talking points on issues that matter to them.
The meeting is part of a three-event stint for the governor on the island. He will also attend a dinner at the Hawaii State Association of Counties tonight at the Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay, as well as the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce Annual Membership and Installation Luncheon Friday afternoon at the Four Seasons Resort, Hualalai.
