Robert Arellano

Robert Arellano, 62, of Hilo, died June 21, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. He was born on July 9, 1953, in Chicago. He was an operation manager for Island Heritage Co. for 25 years in Hilo.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:15 p.m. June 27 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

He is survived by father, Salvador Arellano of Chicago; sister, Gloria Urdiales of Chicago; brother, Richard Urdiales of Chicago.

Paulo Vakautafefine

Paulo Latuipulu Vakautafefine, 71, died June 13, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 19, 1944, in Lapha, Tonga, he was a self-employed rock wall mason.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. June 28 at Dodo Mortuary for an 11:30 a.m. celebration of life and service. Casual attire and flowers are welcomed. Burial at Alae Cemetery (New Section).

He is survived by sons, Petelo Latunipulu, PaluVale Latunipulu, Vilikolo Latuipulu, Ratu Nautu Latunipulu, all of New Zealand; daughters, Hinehina’itelagi Talola of California, Talahiva Vakautafefine of Hilo; nine grandchildren, numerous brothers and sisters; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Shizue Asato

Shizue Akasaki “Edna” Asato, 90, of Ookala died June 22, 2016, at home. Born in Paauilo, she was a retired licensed practical nurse with the former Hamakua Infirmary and member of the Papaaloa Hongwanji Mission Kyodan, Buddhist Women’s Association, Ookala Japanese Club, Laupahoehoe Senior Citizens, ILWU Pension Club, and the Laupahoehoe Nutrition Club.

Friends may call 3 p.m. June 30 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 4 p.m. service. The family requests casual attire and no flowers.

She is survived by sons, Mack Asato of Ookala, Tracy S. (Louise) Asato of Honolulu; daughter, Blossom (Robert) Asato Lee of Washington state; sisters, Tsuruko Asato of Honolulu, Tsuruko Sakihama of Okinawa; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Hinano Kawaauhau

Hinano “Uncle Dude” Ha’aheo Enoka Kawaauhau, 31, of Waimea died May 20, 2016. Born in Kona, he was an employee of Fred’s Nursery.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. July 2 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Waimea for an 11 a.m. to noon service. The family requests casual attire. Flowers are welcome.

He is survived by father, Anthony Kawaauhau of Ocean View; mother, Racal Tolentino of San Leandro, Calif.; sister, Pumehana (Kekai) Kawaauhau-Case of Waimea; maternal grandfather, Rally Tolentino of Waimea; a nephew; two nieces; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Regina Torres

Regina Torres, 51, of Waimea died June 13, 2016, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born Sept. 7, 1964, in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, she was an employee at Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort and Spa and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. July 2 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa for a 10 a.m. Mass. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by daughter, Denice Torres of Waimea; brother, Joseph (Fely) Torres of Waimea; nieces, Farrah Torres of Honolulu, Judy Adviento of the Philippines; nieces, nephews and cousins.
