The art galleries and shops of historic Holualoa Village will be open late this evening for its monthly Art-After-Dark event.

Along with new artworks and crafts in the galleries, there will be music at a half dozen locations along Mamalahoa Highway and street eats from a variety of food vendors from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

The Living Hope Church will be joining the First Friday celebration with their Waves of Grace band playing all evening and featuring a guest performance of gospel classics at 6 p.m. by Kona’s own Becky Mello. Free coffee and cookies will also be served.

Out front of the Koa Realty office will be Dave Lawrence, ripping out hot guitar licks and vocals of classic rock n’ roll tunes. Across the street in the pink Kona Hotel Kira Kamamalu’s Art Studio will be debuting “Social Artworking,” where adults and teens can sign up to create their own original canvas painting with guidance from Kamamalu. At the Holualoa Gallery artists/owners Matthew and Mary Lovein will be hosting Kona Dogs Gourmet Food next to their gallery and artist William Wingert will be painting inside.

The MField Gallery will featuring a Pikai Swim Hawaii trunk show from designer Malia Lins Costa, with new bikinis, monokinis, and Malia’s signature rash guards in adult and keiki sizes. There will also be live music on their lanai and new jewelry designs by Kiana’s Creations, original wood pieces by Gary Young and new paintings by Mike and Terry Field.

Glyph Art Gallery will present a collection of traditional ipu hawele (tied gourds) by artist/artisan Gary Eoff. The gourds are of multiple unique shapes, and are tied in the ancient tradition with handmade cordage. Eoff’s work is also currently on display on-board the Hokulea as a part of the cultural exhibit on its worldwide voyage.

The Holualoa Ukulele Gallery will have another kanikapila on their front lanai, with Mauka Highnotes providing the music during the Art-After-Dark event.
