Irene Sotiangco

Irene Alvarez Sotiangco, 92, of Murrieta, Calif., died June 22, 2016, at the Yorkshire Nursing Home in Hemet, Calif. Born in Binalonan, Pangasinan, the Philippines, she was a retired elementary school teacher.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. July 7 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call from 8:30-9:30 a.m. July 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at the Homelani Memorial Park. The family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by daughter, Odeulina (Gil) Caspillo of Kona; son, Ray (Cristy) Sotiangco of Murrieta, Calif.; sisters, Primitiva (Adriano Vicente) Baybayan, Rosalinda (Eddie) Dagarag, both of Keaau; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Thomas Yamauchi

Thomas Yamauchi, 71, of Hilo died June 30, 2016, at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired district manager for the Hawaii Tribune-Herald, a member of Hilo Seventh Day Adventist Church, Disabled American Veterans—Keaau, and was a an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Friends may call from 4:30 to 9 p.m. July 7 at Hilo Seventh Day Adventist Church for a 7 p.m. service. The family requests casual attire and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Louisa Yamauchi of Hilo; daughters, Angela (Tom) Brokaw of Colorado, Tiffany Paulino of California; sons, Aaron (Leani) Yamauchi, Andrew Yamauchi, both of Hilo, Andrew Vento, Michael Vento, both of Oregon, Kuenekina Tiki Oliwiela of Virginia; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; numerous brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Donald DeSilva

Donald “Donnie” George DeSilva, 76, Honokaa died June 18, 2016, at home. Born March 2, 1940, in Honokaa, he was a cowboy and ranch foreman at Parker Ranch, a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Waimea and founding member of the Paniolo Preservation Society. He was a past member of the Parker Ranch Roundup Club. He received the Paniolo Artisan Showcase Master Saddler Award in 2009, was a member of the Paniolo Hall of Fame and received the Silver Spur Award by the Paniolo Preservation Society.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. July 8 at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Waimea for a 6:30 p.m. eulogy and 7 p.m. Mass. A memorial gathering will follow at Pukalani Stables. Flowers are welcomed

He is survived by wife, Paula DeSilva of Honokaa; daughters, Stacie (David) Francis of Honokaa, Loriann (Troy) Fernandez of Keaau; son, Donald (Lyndsey) DeSilva of Huson, Mont.; eight grandchildren; sister, Linda DeSa of Honokaa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lawrence Fujioka Jr.

Lawrence Osamu Fujioka Jr., 53 of Honokaa died June 23, 2016. Born Sept. 26, 1962, in Honokaa, he worked as a groundskeeper at the Waipio Cookhouse.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. July 8 at his residence, 48-5190 Honokaa Waipio Road Kukuihaele for a visitation and service. A last viewing will be from 9-10 a.m. July 9 at his residence. Burial will be at 11 a.m. July 9 the Kukuihaele County Cemetery. Casual attire.

He is survived by parents, Katherine and Lawrence Fujioka of Kukuihaele; son, Lawrence (Kellie Gironella) Fujioka III of Kukuihaele; brother, Damien (Kalei) Fujioka of Kukuihaele; sister Janelle (Tom) Johnson of Kukuihaele; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
