Gloria Palapuz

Gloria Molina Palapuz, 58, Waimea, died June 30, 2016, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born July 16, 1957, in Santa Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was a homemaker and a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Waimea.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. July 14 at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Waimea for a 7 p.m. Mass. Committal services will held at a later date in the Philippines. Family requests casual attire and no flowers.

She is survived by brothers, Reynaldo (Thelma) Molina, Monico (Lorna) Molina and Al (Lydia) Molina of Waimea, Gus (Mel) Molina of Philippines; sisters, Lisa Molina and Rose (Jun) Busque of Waimea; numerous nieces and nephews.

Vivian Andrade

Vivian “Bea Bea” Mercado Andrade, 75, of Hilo, died June 26, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Jan. 28, 1941, in Hilo, she was a homemaker.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. July 15 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Casual attire and no flowers. Cremation at Dodo Mortuary Crematory.

She is survived by sons, Zackary (Eric) Andrade-Richter of Lahaina, Maui and Radford Kahalewai of Oahu; daughters, Cherie Kahalewai of Maui, Sheila Kahalewai of Oahu and Laurie Leialoha of Hilo; father, Paul Mercado Sr. of Hilo; brothers, Paul Mercado Jr. of Hilo and James Mercado of Puna; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Federico Martinez

Federico Agruda Martinez, 89, of Kealakekua, died May 18, 2016, at his residence. Born on March 26, 1927, in Lubnac Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a carpenter for Pahala Sugar Plantation Co., and a member of the Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Friends may call July 16 at the Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Celebration of Mass begins at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Burial at Pahala Catholic Church Cemetery.

He is survived by son, Vicente Maltezo (Venice) Medrano Martinez Jr. of Hilo and Danilo Maltezo Martinez of Okinawa, Japan; daughters, Iluminda Martinez (Albert) Domingo of Captain Cook and Amalia Maltezo Martinez of Hilo; sisters, Magdalena Pascual and Sianita (Bianong) Agamanos of Philippines, Francisca (Alex) Calumpit of Pahala; brother, Abraham Martinez of Philippines; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Albert Milare

Albert Milare, 80, of Hilo died June 19, 2016, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born Oct. 25, 1935, in Olaa, he was a nurseryman and carpenter and a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant during Vietnam. He was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. Mass. Burial will follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 1. Casual attire.

He is survived by brothers, Allan (Paula) Cadaoas of Mountain View, Melvin (Brenda) Cadaoas of Pahoa and Richard Milare of Texas; sister, Linda (John) Rodrigues of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Max Johnson

Max “Red” Eugene Johnson, 78, of Kailua-Kona died June 18, 2016. Born March 16, 1938, in Ventura, Calif., he was a Realtor and a real estate developer. He was the lead bass singer for the Kona Festivale Chorale for many years.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Aug. 27 at Mokuaikaua Church for a service. Refreshments will follow.

He is survived by wife, Linda Johnson; sons, Steve (Kristina) Johnson of Los Altos Hills, Calif.; Pete (Kelly) of Gig Harbor, Wash.; Jeff (Selene) Larson of Everett, Wash.; Mike (Melanie) Thomas of Redlands, Calif.; daughters, JoLynn (Eric) of Rancho Santa Marquarita, Calif.; Jacque Larson of Kirkland, Wash.; Sharon Berteroulcci of Redwood City, Calif.; sister Norma (Bill) Swanson of Yuma, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren.
