A man was arrested on a burglary charge, thanks in part to a witness in the home filming him with the cell phone, police said.

Xanthin Melekalikimaka Berdon, 26, of Pahoa, is charged with first-degree burglary for allegedly breaking into a home on the 16-200 block of Ilima Street on May 12, according to the Hawaii Police Department.

A 25-year-old man was sleeping and saw a stranger in the home, who took the victim’s car key and fled on foot, police said.

He was arrested on Tuesday and charged with first-degree burglary and two no-bail counts of violating probation.

Berdon is scheduled to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. July 19.
