The 61G lava flow, southeast of Puu Oo, remained active on the coastal plain on Kilauea’s south flank, Hawaiian Volcano Observatory scientists said Tuesday.
When mapped on Sunday afternoon, the flow front had advanced only 44 yards since Saturday’s measurements when the flow front was still about 1 km 0.6 mile from the ocean, the scientists said.
