Jon Bolner

Jon Rodger Bolner, 75, of Hilo died June 9, 2016, at home. Born in Ohio, he was a retired engineer at Mauna Lani Bay Hotel.

Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. July 21 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. The family requests casual attire and that flowers be omitted.

He is survived by daughter, Darleen Jardine of Honokaa; sons, Elwood (Maile Labrador) Adrian of Laupahoehoe, Rodney Bolner of Hilo, Race (Janel deJesus) Bolner Sr. of Hilo, HI; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Wade Madriaga

Wade Cornell Madriaga, 55, of Kurtistown died July 7, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a cook at Oshiro Tofu and a retired veteran of the Hawaii Army National Guard.

Friends may call from 11–11:30 a.m. July 21 at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 Pavilion in Hilo for committal prayers with burial to follow at the cemetery. Casual attire.

He is survived by sisters, Jessie (Dexter) Veriato of Kurtisown, Magdalene (Randall) Fernandez of Pahoa, Eileen (Duane) Nishimoto of Kurtistown; brother, Rogelio Madriaga of Saipan; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Melvyn Sakaguchi

Melvyn Kazuo Sakaguchi, 77, of Hilo died June 16, 2016, at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired administrator at University of Hawaii.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. July 22 at Palolo Higashi Hongwanji Mission in Honolulu, for a 4 p.m. service. The family requests flowers be omitted.

He is survived by wife, Sandra Sakaguchi of Hilo; brother, Donald (Judie) Sakaguchi of Aiea, Oahu; six nephews.

Gordon Breithaupt

Gordon Dayton Breithaupt, 51, of South Point Road, died June 22, 2016, at Ka‘u Hospital. Born Jan. 12, 1965, in Ka‘u, he was a Department of Human Services (State of Hawaii) employee and a member of the Naalehu Assembly of God.

Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. July 23 at Naalehu Assembly of God for a 9 a.m. service. Casual attire; flowers and lei are welcomed.

He is survived by brother, Gregory (Florence) Breithaupt of Puna; sisters, Jamie Tamura of Honolulu, Abaline Kahele Forcum of Kona; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Mary Kay Budar

Mary Kay Budar, 59, of Kailua-Kona, died July 12, 2016, at her residence. Born Oct. 14, 1956, in Cleveland, she was a manager for Budar Insurance Agency-Allstate, member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 23 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Hospice of Kona, P.O. Box 4130, Kailua-Kona, HI, 96745.

She is survived by husband, Steven Budar, of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Jessica Satomba, of Waikoloa, Sophea Budar, of Honolulu, and Katherine Barhorstc of West Chester, Ohio; son, George Tierney, of Mason, Ohio; mother, Patricia Kinsellac of Cincinnati; sisters, Candace Smithc of Nashport, Ohio, and Peggy Baldwin of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Wendell Hatada

Wendell Masayuki Hatada, 64, of Hilo died June 9, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 13, 1951, in Hilo, he was a retired executive assistant to the former Mayor Harry Kim and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betusin, Lower Kawailani Kumiai, and Nissei Bowling League.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. July 23 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by mother, Tokiko Hatada of Hilo; brothers, Darrell Hatada and Curtis Hatada of Hilo; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jack Mulkey

Jack “Kona Jack” B Mulkey, 89, of Keauhou died June 20, 2016, at his residence. Born Oct. 30, 1926, in Santa Monica, Calif., he was a maintenance helper for the Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club, a retired right of way agent for General Telephone Co. in California, a surfing pioneer and a World War II Navy veteran.
