Felicidad Tejada

The late Felicidad Gabilo Tejada was born in Casilagan, Mangatarem, Phiippines, and was survived by, among others, son, Alejo (Alma Yano) Tejada Jr. of Hilo and daughter, Jane (Eric) Kurosawa of Hilo.

Incorrect information was submitted by the mortuary and printed in an earlier obituary.

Harutoku Kimur

Harutoku “Hot Dog” “Kim” Kimura, 86, of Volcano died July 12, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 22, 1930, in Pohakea, he was a retired U.S. Army First Sergeant and veteran who served during both the Korean and Vietnam wars and recipient of a Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart.

Kimura requested no services and no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by sons, Robert Kimura of Volcano, Sheldon (Yumiko) Kimura of Mililani, Oahu; daughters, Joyce (Paul) Osborn and Jasmine (Pete Bettinger) Kimura of California; hanai son, Paul Lee of Keaukaha; and two grandchildren.

Kiyoko Miyazono

Kiyoko Miyazono, 81, of Pahoa died June 30, 2016, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born March 26, 1935, in Hilo, she was a housewife.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

She is survived by son, Ray (Daysha) Miyazono of Pahoa; daughters, Faye Raymond and Gail (Dan Sr.) De Mattos of Hilo; brother, Motomu (Pauline) Sakai of Hilo; sisters, June (Richard) Shiigi and Katsue Nishimura of Hilo; eight grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy Belt III

Roy John Belt III

Roy John Belt, III, 62, of Honomu died July 13, 2016, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Detroit, he was an artist and a retired construction supervisor and member of the Big Island Bamboo Society and made bamboo sculptures featured at One Gallery.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Carol Belt of Honomu; sisters, Nancy Kelly, Cynthia Snyder, both of Santa Barbara, Calif.; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Frank Kaneda

Frank Naoyuki Kaneda, 92, of Kurtistown died June 25, 2016, at the Arquitola Care Home in Keaau. Born April 12, 1924, in Honolulu he was a retired teacher, a World War II Army veteran and member of the Kurtistown Jodo Mission, Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, and Eleven-Mile Kumiai.

Private services held. No flowers. No monetary offerings.

He is survived by wife, Ruth Kaneda of Kurtistown; daughter, Laura Jean Kawamura of Lihue, Kauai; sister, Nobuko Mookini of Honolulu; four grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces.

Roberta Wong

Roberta “Buddie” Beck Wong, 76, of Hilo died on June 6, 2016. Born May 28, 1940, in Hilo, she worked in the tourism industry.

She is survived by sons, Derek Wong, Kaha Wong, Kalae Wong , all of Hilo, Kalani Wong of Honolulu, Zerek Wong of Arizona; daughters, Taryn-Kealani Wong Iokepa of Honolulu, Tyra-Kahala Wong of Hilo; sister, Carolyn Beck Won of Kapolei, Oahu; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephews.

Ronald Bruggeman

Ronald Francis Bruggeman, 53, of Hilo died June 28, 2016, at home. Born Sept. 4, 1962, in Greenville, Ohio, he was an aircraft mechanic, aircraft inspector, and U.S. Air Force veteran.

Private services were held.

He is survived by wife, Marija Bruggeman of Hilo; parents, Gerald and Patricia Bruggeman of Ohio; sisters, Kathy Kiser and Vicky Longfellow of Ohio; brother, John Bruggeman of Ohio.

Thomas Mikita

Thomas Mikita, 95, died July 20, 2016, in Cornelius, N. C. Born in Melcher, Iowa, he was a Navy veteran and worked in the airline industry for 49 years.

Interment will be at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery.

He is survived by sister, Emma Bubon of Des Moines, Iowa; children, Mark (Lindsay) Mikita, Tammy (Mark) Cozens and Michael (Patti) Mikita; five grandchildren.

Joyce Kulbe

Joyce Michie Kulbe, 73, of Kailua-Kona died July 11, 2016, at her residence. Born Nov. 15, 1942, in Kealakekua, she was a laundry supervisor at a care home and a Motel 6 manager on the mainland.

A private celebration of life will be held.

She is survived by children, Annette (Patrick) Alcos Jr., of Kailua-Kona, Francine (Randall) Aquino of Waimea, Royden (Danlyn) Silva of Oahu; mother, Satsuko Matsuoka of Middle Keei; brothers, Stanley (Jeryl) Matsuoka of Waikoloa, Chad (Honey Girl) Matsuoka of Middle Keei; sisters, Adele (Alex) Matsuoka of Kaloko, Janet O’Callahan of Kealakekua; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Robert Russell

Robert “Bob” Kenneth Kalani Russell, 59, of Kailua-Kona died July 17, 2016, at his residence. Born Jan. 18, 1959, in Long Beach, Calif, he was a real estate agent for MacArthur Sotheby’s International Realty, a charter boat captain and fisherman.

Private services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Angelese Russell of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Audrey Russell and Tiffany Russell, both of Big Bear, Calif.; brothers, Michael (Vivian) Varney of Waimea, Daniel (Laura) Varney of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Linda (Nathan) Matney of Oregon, Mari Jo Russell of Kailua-Kona, Shirley (Alfred) Kutara of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
