Kona ranching exhibit extended

Because of demand from the public, Kona Historical Society will extend the “Kona Ranching &Kona Cowboys: Our Way of Life” exhibit until Aug. 13.

It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays at the H.N. Greenwell Store Museum, and admission is by donation. “Kona Ranching &Kona Cowboys: Our Way of Life” is the second part of a culmination project that shares Kona’s largely unfamiliar history of cowboys and ranching.

Veterans invited to meet the candidates

All veterans are invited to meet and talk story with candidates in the upcoming election. The gathering is from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday at the VFW, 75-5543 Kaiwi St. Suite 185A behind Kona Locksmith.

Coalition Against Human Trafficking meets

The Coalition Against Human Trafficking, Big Island meets from noon to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Salvation Army, 75-223 Kalani St. Dale Ross from the prosecutor’s office will speak on how to effectively use the media and technology to deter human trafficking.

Workday planned at Kaloko Fishpond

Community members are invited to join Hui Kaloko-Honokohau in the monthly Kaloko Fishpond rehabilitation workday. The group will remove invasive plants and jellyfish from the fishpond to improve current conditions for improved fishpond management.

The workday begins at 8 a.m. Sunday. Attendees should wear tabis and long sleeve attire. Tools and water are provided. A potluck will follow.
