The following crime reports are from burglary, stolen vehicle and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle reports in Kona police district district for a given week. The following reports are from July 1 to 25.
BURGLARY
Someone stolen medications, tools and equipment from a home on the 82-5900 block of Mamalahoa Highway between 6 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. July 1. The tools included a 12 volt Dewalt screwgun / battery charger, wrench set, Matco socket set, ratchet set, respirator and five-gallon gas tank.
A Panasonic television and a EU2000 generator were stolen from a home on the 88-2400 block of Milolii Road on July 2. The person or people got inside by removing five louvers from the south side of the home and exited by unlocking the front door, which was left open.
On July 4, a woman reportedly interrupted a burglary in progress on the 89-0400 block of Hawaii Belt Drive. She heard two loud “bangs” from the office building and went to investigate between 3:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. She heard another series of “bangs” when she went to investigate, finding an open door. A man ran from the building into the macadamia nut farm and ran across the highway. The man ransacked two offices after kicking in their doors. A box of items were removed from the building and left outside in the entry area, but it was unknown what items were taken from the offices.
A man reported his home was ransacked and military medals, dog tags, clothes and other objects were taken between 9 a.m. and 1:40 p.m. July 5 on the 78-6700 block of Alii Drive. Whoever took the items cut through a screen near the rear door, unlocking it through the louvers south of the east-facing door.
A woman reported a man she knew stole jewelry, cash and quartz crystals from her home on the 75-5700 block of Kalawa Street. The man was seen in the apartment by her 14-year-old son at 10 a.m. entering through an unlocked front door. The stolen jewelry included a gold necklace with a charm, a sterling silver necklace and a three-stone sapphire ring. Also taken was a total of $567 in cash and silver-framed sunglasses with blue lenses. Total value was estimated at $1,127.
Jewelry was reported stolen from a woman’s teal-colored purse on July 9 while at 73-4300 Kapuahi Street. The four items were valued at $1,330.
Someone reportedly exploited an existing broken lock on a sliding glass door on the south side of the 79-7400 block of Hawaii Belt Road on July 24. The door had been secured by a piece of bamboo between the wall and door frame. A total of $737 was reportedly taken.
UCPV (STOLEN VEHICLE)
A truck was reportedly stolen the center of the east side of the baseyard at Hulikoa Drive on July 4. The primer grey 2006 Nissan 4WD with plate ZEB 303 was apparently driven out of a hole cut in the chain-link fence. It is valued at about $8,000.
A woman reported that someone stole her handbag and rental car on July 14 on the 78-6700 block of Alii Drive. The Coach handbag had her wallet, ID, credit cards and keys to the black 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe with the license of ZEA 157.
A 2005 white moped was reported stolen from a home on Telephone Exchange Road on July 19. The theft would have occurred between 4 p.m. July 18 and 7 a.m. July 19. The moped is valued at $1,300.
UEMV (UNLAWFUL ENTRY INTO MOTOR VEHICLE)
A baseball bat and the keys to a white 2004 Nissan Frontier with extended cab were reportedly stolen from inside the truck on July 4 on 73-4100 Hulikoa Drive. The title may also have been taken.
A 12-inch Pioneer subwoofer was reported stolen from a locked silver 2004 Suzuki XL7 on July 11 on the 74-5400 block of Makala Boulevard. The 22-year-old man reported that he left the vehicle at 5:20 p.m. and returned to it at 5:40 p.m. The victim reported there was no sign of a forced entry.
Someone entered a white Ford Ranger and stole multiple items while it was parked on Kahauloa Road. The theft happened between 8:30 p.m. July 11 and 8:30 a.m. July 12. The items taken were valued at $61.
