Mark Char, 58, was charged Wednesday with second-degree attempted murder and second- and third-degree assault in connection with the Monday incident on the H-1 Freeway. He’s being held on $2 million bail.
Few details about the stabbing have been released, but the incident has been described as an act of road rage.
Emergency Medical Services reported that a 22-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition and a 23-year-old man sustained serious injuries. KHON-TV and Hawaii News Now report that a third victim took himself to the hospital after being cut on the hand.
Char is set to go to trial in two separate cases this month. He will face trial Monday for second-degree assault and criminal property damage charges for another road-related incident. He’s also scheduled for trial on Aug. 29 on a charge of terroristic threatening related to an incident in 2013.
