From 10 a.m.–noon, Bobby Grimes will lead the free workshop at Hamakua Harvest Farmer’s Market.
Attendees can learn how to make a bamboo tea cup, chopsticks and a utensil rest. Grimes will also demonstrate a bamboo splitting and panel weaving, and offer tips on growing, pruning, harvesting and treatment of bamboo.
If possible, bring a Japanese pull saw, fine tooth or a sharp block plane. All ages and experience levels are welcome.
