Cop on Top to support Special Olympics Hawaii
Law enforcement officers volunteering for the 15th Annual Special Olympics Hawaii Cop on Top fundraiser are set to climb atop 10-foot scaffolds, where they will stay for three days until they reach their fundraising goal.
The event is set for Aug. 25-27 at Walmart.
Since 2001, Cop on Top has raised more than $2,717,767 to benefit Special Olympics Hawaii.
Special Olympics Hawaii provides year-round sports training and competition opportunities to more than 4,740 athletes with intellectual disabilities across the state each year. The average cost to serve one athlete is approximately $756 a year.

Auntie’s Angels seeks fresh food donations for seniors
Auntie’s Angels — Big Island will hold its monthly Soup Kitchen ‘n’ Pantry Saturday at Hualalai Elderly Housing. The charity seeks donations of fresh fruits and vegetables to share with their low income kupuna.

Natural horsemanship clinic planned
Margit Deerman, a three-star Parelli professional from southern California, will lead a natural horsemanship clinic at Kona Castle Ranch.
Attendees will learn to partner with their horse using love, language and leadership. Get Started Partnership Clinic is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Advancing Horsemanship Clinic is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 28. Private lessons will be offered Aug. 29.
Auditors are welcome. Cost is $20 per day, including lunch and parking. Keiki age 14 and under are free.

Zumba glow party fundraiser planned
A Zumba dance party event will support the West Hawaii Domestic Abuse Shelter from 4:30 – 8 p.m. Saturday at the Sheraton Kona Resort Convention Center.
It’s a “glow” party so particpants should be ready to light the night, Zumba style. Attendees will get a dance workout with area Zumba instructors while supporting those who need safe and comfortable havens when fleeing domestic violence.

Dinner to raise funds for American Legion
Privateers Cove Restaurant in Kaiwi Square at the corner of Luhia Street and Kaiwi Street in Kailua-Kona’s Old Industrial Area will hold a dinner and a silent auction to raise funds for the American Legion Kona Post 20. The event begins at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28. Tickets are $25 per plate and will include a three-course meal and soft drinks.
