Halia Dodge-Mandaguit

Halia Elizabeth Jewell Anela Kiai Dodge-Mandaguit, infant, died Aug. 16, 2016, at Kona Community Hospital. She was born Aug. 16, 2016.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Aug. 26 at OTEC beach in Kailua-Kona. The family requests casual attire.

She is survived by parents, Justin Mandaguit and Melissa Dodge of Kealakekua; sister, Marlie Mandaguit of Kealakekua; paternal grandparents, Clyde and Linda Mandaguit of Kailua-Kona; maternal grandmother, Virginia (Roger) Elliott of Columbia Falls, Mont.; maternal grandfather, Ronald (Aleta) Dodge of Thompson Falls, Mont.; numerous aunt, uncles, and cousins.

Gilbert Abalos

Gilbert G. Abalos, 78, of Mountain View died Aug. 5, 2016, at his residence. Born March 24, 1938, in Honokaa, he was a retired truck driver for the T. Kaneshiro Supermarket in Honokaa, was an Air Force veteran, and a member of the (The House) Church in Hilo.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. Aug. 27 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a noon service. Casual attire and no flowers.

He is survived by daughters, Linda Andrade of Hilo, Judy (Clayton) Arruda of Kurtistown, Cindy (Paul) Andrade of Mountain View; sister, Dolly Best of Washington; brother, Wayne (Velma) Abalos of Hilo; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elizabeth Lee

Elizabeth Maluihi Ako Lee, 87, of Kohanaiki died Aug. 9, 2016, at her family’s residence. Born Jan. 26, 1929, in Holualoa, she was a master lauhala weaver, a teacher of lauhala and makaloa crafts, the founder of Ka Ulu Lauhala o Kona, and worked at Bishop Museum. She was a cultural historian, Hawaiian translator, kupuna for the Mayor’s office, and a volunteer with the Retired Senior Employment with the County of Hawaii. She was a salesclerk at the former Kona Inn Gift Lanai, worked for Dr. Thomas Mar and the Kona Community Hospital.

Friends may call at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at Mokuaikaua Congregational Church in Kailua-Kona for a 3:30 p.m. funeral service. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 29 at Mokuaikaua Church Cemetery. The family requests aloha attire and flowers are welcome.

She is survived by sons, Robert (Terri) Lee Jr., of Kohanaiki, Reggie Keoki (Donna) Lee of Kalaoa; brother, Valentine Ako of Wailua, Kauai; sisters, Jane Nunies of Papakolea, Oahu, Emma Conjugacion, Elaine Spencer, both of Honolulu; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Theresa Janak

Theresa Ottilie Janak, 86, of Kalapana died Aug. 4, 2016, at home. Born in Geisenbrunn, Germany, she was a retired seamstress, attended Opihikao Congregational Church and was a member of Ka Hui Kapa Apana O Hilo (Hawaiian Quilt Club).

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 27 at Opihikao Congregational Church for an 11 a.m. service, followed by lunch. The family requests aloha attire and that flowers be omitted.

She is survived by sons, Frank (Elouise) Mulec of Pahoa, James (Gisela) Janak of Texas; daughters, Susanne (Mark) Hauanio of Leilani Estates, Leilani (David) Reyes of Paradise Park, Keaau; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.

Alicia Andres

Alicia “Kullah” May Andres, 20, of Hilo died Aug. 4, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 31, 1996, in Hilo, she was a member of Solid Rock Ministries, S.R.M. Eagles Cheerleading, Kona Aerials Gymnastics and the Pentecostal Discipleship in Puna.

Friends may call at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo for a 6 p.m. celebration of life. Casual attire.

She is survived by daughter, Dakota Andres-Suenishi of Hilo; parents, Arnel Andres, January Andres, both of Hilo; brothers, AJ Andres of Kailua-Kona, Michael Halican of Hilo; grandfather, Arnold Andres of Hilo; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Victor DuBray Jr.

Victor DuBray Jr., 80, of Kailua-Kona, died Aug. 16 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 24, 1935, in Honolulu, he was a retired concrete batchman for West Hawaii Concrete, a ranch worker for Puuwaawaa Ranch, member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 745 and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Private service to be held.

He is survived by wife, Carmen DuBray of Kailua-Kona; son, Victor (Korrie) DuBray, III of LaGrande, Oregon; daughters, Victoria DuBray of Kailua Kona, Deborah Dutra of Waimea, Vanessa (David) Crawford both of Kailua-Kona; three grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
