Sidney Hashimoto

Sidney Hashimoto, 80, of Kailua, Oahu, died Aug. 17, 2016, at Castle Medical Center. Born Feb. 19, 1936, in South Kona, he was a ship fitter at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. He was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and a U.S. Army veteran.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Sept. 9 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Honaunau for a 9 a.m. Mass. Burial will follow at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

He is survived by sons, Sidney Hashimoto of Maui, Eugene (Debbie) Hashimoto of Mililani, Oahu, and Nathan (Lei) Hashimoto of Waimanalo, Oahu; daughters, Laurie Ann (Tony) Martin and Dora (Richard) Largo, all of Waimanalo, Oahu, and Adrienne (Curtis) Chee of Kailua, Oahu; brothers, Simeon Hashimoto of Ohio, Chris (Virginia) Hashimoto and Arnold Hashimoto, all of Hookena; sister, Lorraine (Albert) Medeiros of Hookena; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Teresita Garcia

Teresita “Tessie” “Carmen” Reynado Garcia, 71, of Hilo, died Aug. 24, 2016, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born Sept. 27, 1944, in Alaminos, Pangasinan, Philippines, she was retired from Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co., had worked at the former Robert’s Bakery and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ainaola Ward, Mabuhay of Hilo, Big Island Ilocano Club, Pangasinan Club, and Waiakea Uka Kumiai.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. Sept. 8 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may call again at 9 a.m. Sept. 9 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hilo Stake Center, 1373 Kilauea Ave. for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial follows at Homelani Memorial Park Section 7. The family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by son, Anthony Garcia of Abilene, Texas; daughter, Jocelyn Garcia of Hilo; brothers, Simplicio (Emilia) Reynado Jr. of Hilo, Edilberto Reynado and Henry Reynado of the Philippines; sisters, Elena (Alan) Wise of Las Vegas, Juliana (Virgilio) Lopez and Rosalinda Reynado of the Philippines; two grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry Kirkland

Larry Kirkland, 80, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 17, 2016, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born Oct. 17, 1935, in Vallejo, Calif., he was a retired environmental support unit for the FAA, a member of Soka Gakkai International, and a veteran Sergeant of the United States Marine Corps.

Private services will be held.

He is survived by wife, Merleene Kirkland of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Sue Lynn Compton of Dana Point, Calif., Kaleikaimana Mookini of Kailua-Kona, Lori (Caroll) Hobby and Tracey Sheridan, all of Arkansas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kinuyo Matsumoto

Kinuyo “Kay” Matsumoto, 82, of Honolulu died Aug. 19, 2016, in Honolulu. She was born Nov. 12, 1933, in North Kohala.

She is survived by husband, Roy; daughters, Jan Kitamori of Kaneohe, Oahu, Sandi Burgon of Honolulu; three grandchildren; sister, Toshiko Murakami of North Kohala.

Adam Hartzog

Adam Cole Hartzog, 28, of Baton Rouge, La. died Aug. 16, 2016, in Hilo. Born Jan. 7, 1988, in Lafayette, La. he was a former employee of Hilo Burger Joint.

Services will be held in Baton Rouge, La. Condolences may be posted at homelaniememorialpark.com.

He is survived by sister, April (Jay) Franck of Asheville, N.C., nephew, uncles, and cousins.

Takumi Isotani

Takumi “Iso” Isotani, 90, of Hilo, died on Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Feb. 8, 1926, in Onomea, he was a retired assistant boiler operator for the former Hamakua Sugar Company and a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.

Private services were held. No monetary donations and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Molly Isotani of Hilo; son, Paul (Debra) Isotani of Hilo; brother, Van Isotani of Honolulu; sister, Lynn (George) Tanaka of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and grandson.
