KAILUA-KONA — The Kona Health Office on Haukapila Street in Kealakekua will close temporarily at the end of this month to allow for the installation of ceiling fans and other general renovations at the facility.

Public health programs that operate out of that building will be housed elsewhere while the renovations are ongoing.

The office will close on Sept. 30, said public health educator Lenard Allen.

Public health nursing, epidemiology and vital records will move to the Keakealani Building at 79-1020 Haukapila St., Room 104A.

All public health nursing services, such as tuberculosis skin testing, will take place at that temporary site.

The Children with Special Needs division will move temporarily to the Kealakekua Business Plaza at 81-980 Halekii St., suite 103.

Aaron Ueno, district officer for the Kona Health Office, said they hope the main office can reopen within about three months.
